Towns

General#

Towns are the heart of survival: protected territory where only you and your townmates can build. Create your own with /towny create <name> - founding is free, but you need at least 121 claim blocks to cover the starting area, and towns can only be created out in the wild. Names are 3 to 16 characters, letters only.

Once your town exists, growing it is all about claiming more land with claim blocks.

Town Size and Members#

Bigger towns hold more people. Your member cap grows with your claimed area:

Claimed Blocks Max Members
Up to 122 1
Up to 250 2
Up to 500 3
Up to 1,000 4
Up to 2,500 5
Up to 5,000 6
Up to 10,000 7
Up to 25,000 8
Beyond 25,000 15

A town's claim can stretch up to 250 blocks per side. Towns also have a level, shown in /towny info, that grows with members and claimed land - the biggest towns top the /towny top leaderboard.

Ranks#

Every member holds a rank. Promote and demote with /towny promote and /towny demote:

Rank Can Do
Recruit Use the town spawn, deposit to the bank
Resident Build, buy town upgrades
Council Claim land, set the spawn, invite and kick, withdraw from the bank, promote and demote
Founder Everything, plus open or close the town and disband it

Each rank includes everything below it.

Town Upgrades#

Upgrades are town-wide perks bought with in-game money (paid by the buyer - any Resident or above can purchase). Open them with /towny upgrade:

Upgrade Effect Tiers and Cost
Crop Growth Crops grow faster inside your town +10% $50k, +20% $150k, +30% $250k, +40% $500k, +50% $1M
No Hunger No hunger loss inside your town $100k
Flight Members can fly inside your town $1M
Max Warps Raises your town warp cap 3 warps $10k, 8 $25k, 15 $75k, 25 $150k

Town Warps#

Towns can set named warps inside their claims - handy for farms, shops, and builds. Set them from inside your territory and browse them with /town warps. The Max Warps upgrade raises how many your town can hold.

Town Bank#

The town bank is shared savings: anyone can /towny deposit, Council and above can /towny withdraw, and /towny balance shows the total.
