Friends List
General#
Your friends list is stored on your account, not on a server, so it follows you everywhere. A friend playing somewhere else still shows as online, and the list tells you which server they are on.
There are two ways to work it: the /friend commands, or the Friends tab in /preferences.
Adding A Friend#
/friend <player> sends a request. The same command accepts one that is already waiting for you, so both people run /friend <name> and that is the whole exchange.
You can hold up to 100 friends.
| Command | What It Does |
|---|---|
/friend <player> |
Send a request, or accept a request from that player |
/friend requests |
List the requests waiting on you |
/friend deny <player> |
Decline a request |
/friendlist |
Your friends, and which server each online one is on |
/unfriend <player> |
Remove a friend, or cancel a request you sent |
Requests#
Requests waiting on you are listed when you log in. Five are shown in full and the rest are collapsed into a count, so /friend requests is the way to see a long list.
An incoming request arrives with Accept and Deny buttons you can click. On Bedrock, where chat cannot be clicked, the same message spells out the commands with the name already filled in.
Requests travel across servers, so you are told about one whether or not you are on the same server as the sender.
The Friends Tab#
Open /preferences and pick the Friends tab for the same list as heads you can click:
- Requests come first, since they are the ones needing an answer. Left-click accepts, right-click denies.
- Friends below that. Click one to unfriend.
- Pending requests you sent last. Click one to cancel it.
Every head shows whether that player is online and which server they are on.
When A Request Goes Nowhere#
If someone is ignoring you, your request still reports as sent but never reaches them. This is deliberate: it means nobody can use friend requests to work out who has ignored them.
You also cannot send a request to somebody you are ignoring yourself. Drop the ignore with /unignore first.
