Fishing
General Information#

Fishing allows players to fish up a variety of different fish species as well as catch and defeat bosses. In addition to fishing, players can interact with the wilderness, finding a
variety of different fishing area mobs, each area hosting different ecosystems to seek out and explore.
Complete quests to unlock the next area, and spend the fragments you earn there upgrading your fishing rod.
Fish Species#
There are a variety of different fish species to catch, with each fishing area having its own collection of fish to find.
Fish Codex#
The Fishing Codex displays a complete list of all fish you have discovered, as well as those you have yet to catch. It can be accessed by typing /codex or /fishcodex, or from the Fish Codex compass in your rod's Shift-Right-Click menu.
Undiscovered fish appear in the codex as grayed silhouettes. Once discovered, a fish is revealed in its full, vibrant texture.
The Fishing Codex is divided by fishing area. You can cycle through these areas using the tabs at the top of the codex. Hovering over a fish allows you to view both personal and global statistics for that species. The blue value represents the seasonal best catch, while the gray value represents the all-time best catch.
Areas#
Fishing is split up into different biomes and areas. The different areas consist of Fishing Valley, Sunny Meadows, Pine Peaks, Cozy Cabin, Tropical Grove, Sacred Pass, Scorched Oasis, Forbidden Temple, Snowy Summit, and Frostbit Lake. Each area allows players to catch different fish species as well as different bosses, and each area hosts a variety of new animals to find as well.
Fishing Mobs#
Casual Mobs#
Each fishing area has a different set of mobs which can be found in addition to fish species. Many of these mobs offer drops which can help new players along their way. Some are passive while others are hostile, so it is important to know your surroundings.
Bosses#
Different fishing areas offer the chance to catch unique bosses with various skills and rewards. Different fishing rods have different chances of catching bosses, so upgrading your rod will help you to catch more bosses. The type of boss caught is dependent entirely on the fishing area, not the fishing rod. Different bosses can also be caught depending on the time of day, with night bringing harder bosses with greater rewards.
Bosses cannot be caught outside of fishing areas/regions.
Fish Merchant#
Fish Merchants can be found throughout the various fishing areas. By talking to a Fish Merchant, players can sell their caught fish as well as purchase various items in exchange for different fragments. Among these items in the Fish Merchant's shop are general items to help players with their Skyblock experience.
Fragments#
Different fishing areas will offer players different fragment types for slaying mobs, fish, and bosses. Fragments can be used to purchase items in their respective areas as well as upgrade players' fishing rods. The different types of fragments consist of the River Fragment (found in Fishing Valley and Sunny Meadows), the Evergreen Fragment (found in Pine Peaks and Cozy Cabin), the Spirit Fragment (found in Tropical Grove and Sacred Pass), the Amber Fragment (found in Scorched Oasis and Forbidden Temple), and the Glacial Fragment (found in Snowy Summit and Frostbit Lake).
Fishing Rods#
Every profile gets one fishing rod that grows with you. Shift-Right-Click it to upgrade it to the next tier, paid in the fragments of the next region, so tiers unlock in order as you progress through the areas. The rod also unlocks relic powers, dropped by fishing bosses.
Vanilla enchants work hand in hand with the custom fishing system. Lure will increase the speed in which you catch fish. Luck of the sea will increase the chance to catch higher rarity fish.
Events#
Throughout the day, timed events challenge every angler in the fishing areas at once. Each one runs for 10 minutes, and the top three finishers are announced when it ends.
| Event | Goal |
|---|---|
| Longest Fish | Land the longest fish you can |
| Smallest Fish | Land the smallest fish you can |
| Most Fish | Catch the highest number of fish |
| Most Species | Catch the widest spread of different species |
| Boss Kills | Defeat the most bosses |
Every fish has a measured length, rolled within the size range of its rarity. Your rod's tier plays no part: on the length events rarer catches and the Trophy Hunter ability of the Fishing skill give you the edge. All five events pay the same prizes:
| Place | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1st | Treasure Chest reputation item and $15,000 |
| 2nd | Car Battery reputation item and $10,000 |
| 3rd | Shell reputation item and $5,000 |
