Weapon Skins

General#

Skins change how a weapon looks and nothing else. There is no stat difference, no advantage and no drawback: a Rainbow Katana swings exactly like a stock one.

Every one of the twenty upgradeable weapons has the same seventeen skins, so the list below applies equally to the Glock-19, the Remington 700 and the Nail Bat. Each skin is named after its weapon, so the Crimson finish on a Glock-19 is called Crimson Glock-19.

That comes to 340 skins in total across the game.

How They Work#

  • Open a weapon's skins page from the Weapon Skins button at the bottom of that weapon's modifications menu in the lobby.
  • You can own any number of skins per weapon but equip only one at a time.
  • The equipped skin applies to every copy of that weapon you get afterwards, whether it came from the Item Shop, from crafting, or out of a loot chest.
  • Skins are saved permanently and persist across joins and server restarts.
  • The free Default skin is always available, so you can switch back to the stock look at any time.

Because loot chests mint weapons using the opening player's skin as well as their upgrades, the gun you pull out of a chest already looks the way you set it.

Currency#

Skins are bought with Omnicoin, not gold.

Omnicoin is the network-wide currency, earned by voting and shown on your Outbreak scoreboard. Gold buys zombie classes and your pre-round loadout; it does not buy skins.

No skin has a rank requirement. Every one is available to every player.

The Skins#

Prices are per weapon, in Omnicoin.

Skin Image Cost
Default Free
Crimson 100
Bumblebee 150
Camo 150
Carbon 150
Emerald 150
Plastic Toy 150
Sapphire 150

Frost 300
Magma 300
Rainbow 300
Rose Gold 300
Gold Shimmer 2,500 kills

The in-game menu sorts them exactly this way: free first, then by price, with the earned skin last.

Gold Shimmer#

The only skin that cannot be bought at any price. It unlocks automatically at 2,500 lifetime kills with that specific weapon, and it tracks per weapon rather than overall, so 2,500 kills spread across your whole arsenal unlocks nothing.

For scale, the top tier of the Marksman achievement ladder asks for 5,000 gun kills across every firearm in the game. Gold Shimmer asks for half that on one weapon, twenty separate times over if you want the full set.

The menu shows your live progress toward it, so you can see how far off you are on any given weapon.

Which Weapons Have Them#

All seventeen guns and the three upgradeable melee weapons: the Katana, Kitchen Knife and Nail Bat.

The Blade, throwables and utility items have no skins, the same weapons that have no upgrade trees.
