Kitchen Knife
General#
The Kitchen Knife sits one point of damage below the Katana while costing a third as much to make. For most of a round it is the sensible melee weapon: you will find the materials constantly, and losing one costs nothing.
At 100 gold in the shop it is also the cheapest way to spawn holding something that can actually kill.

Only hits on zombies consume durability. Swinging at blocks and barricades is free, though melee weapons do no barricade damage either way.
Getting One#
Common in ordinary chests. Craftable from 1 Stick and 1 Blade, and sold in the Item Shop for 100 gold.

Because knives are cheap and disposable, Sharpened tends to be the better buy here than Reinforced. Five damage upgraded closes most of the gap to a stock Katana at a fraction of the material cost.
