Butcher
General#
The Butcher has no power ability. Instead it spawns armed, drawing a random melee weapon from the same pool humans loot, and swings it with a 10 percent damage bonus.
It is also the only class that deliberately shows its weapon to humans. Survivors can see exactly what is coming, which cuts both ways: a Butcher holding a Katana is terrifying, and a Butcher holding a Nail Bat has told everyone it is not a threat.
Stats#
| Cost | 3,000 gold |
| Rank | None |
| Health | 8 hearts |
| Damage bonus | 10 percent on top of the weapon |
| Lives | 2, then locked for 90 seconds |
| Available | 90 seconds into the round |
Weapon Roll#
You get one weapon per spawn, rolled fresh each time:
| Weapon | Chance | Damage with the bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Nail Bat | 50% | 3.3 |
| Blade | 30% | 4.4 |
| Kitchen Knife | 18% | 5.5 |
| Katana | 2% | 6.6 |
A Katana Butcher hits more than three times as hard as an ordinary zombie punch, but it is a one in fifty spawn.
Playing It#
The Butcher is the most consistent damage class in the game precisely because it does not need power. There is no meter to wait on and no cooldown to time, so it works well in a long grinding fight where the ability classes spend most of the round recharging.
Its two lives and 90 second start delay mean it arrives once the round has settled and the survivors have found armor. Weigh a reroll: dying is how you get another shot at the Katana, but you only have two.
