Platinum Rank
General#
Platinum is the top rank on Outbreak, and it includes everything Gold has. The two do not compete: anywhere the game checks for Gold, Platinum satisfies it.
It is also the only rank that changes the round itself rather than what you bring into it, through team preference.
What It Unlocks#
Everything on the Gold Rank page, plus:
| Perk | Detail |
|---|---|
| Fifth loadout slot | Five Item Shop slots |
| 50 percent off classes | Every zombie class at half the standard price |
| Three exclusive classes | Spitter, Nuker and Lurker |
| One exclusive weapon | The M4 Carbine in the shop |
| 1,000 gold a week | Claimable alongside the Gold reward, for 1,500 a week total |
| Team preference | Ask to start each round as a human or a zombie |
Team Preference#
The only rank perk that touches the round rather than the shop. Using the Team NPC in the lobby or /team, you can ask to start as a Human, a Zombie, or state no preference.
It is a preference, not a guarantee. When the game picks the round's starting infected it draws from players who asked for Zombie first, then from players who did not ask for Human, and only then from everybody else. So asking for Zombie makes you considerably more likely to start as one, and asking for Human makes you meaningfully less likely.
It resets when you disconnect, so it has to be set each session.
The Fifth Slot#
Three slots forces hard choices. Four makes a coherent loadout possible. Five is the point where the Item Shop stops constraining you: Gas Mask, a stack of Radiation Tablets, a stack of Bandages, a weapon and a stack of Scrap Metal all fit at once.
Remember that survivors who finish a round alive keep their whole loadout for free next round, so the advantage compounds across a good streak.
The Classes#
All three are locked behind the rank entirely.
They are also the three classes that play least like an ordinary zombie. The Spitter and Nuker both win by radiation rather than by touching anyone, which armor does nothing about, and the Lurker is the only ambush class in the game.
The M4 Carbine#
The M4 Carbine is 200 gold in the Item Shop and cannot be found in any loot chest.
Unlike the Gold rank's Desert Eagle, this one is genuinely best in class: 8 damage a round is the highest of any 5.56mm weapon, and its 1.5 second reload is the fastest of any rifle. Its only weakness is a ten-round magazine, which the Extended Mag upgrade fixes.
Being a guaranteed purchase rather than a loot gamble also makes it one of the safest weapons in the game to invest parts into.
Class Prices at Platinum#
| Class | Standard | Platinum |
|---|---|---|
| Sprinter | 2,000 | 1,000 |
| Hellhound | 2,000 | 1,000 |
| Drummer | 2,000 | 1,000 |
| Spitter | 2,400 | 1,200 |
| Bomber | 2,400 | 1,200 |
| Nuker | 2,400 | 1,200 |
| Tank | 2,800 | 1,400 |
| Butcher | 3,000 | 1,500 |
| Lurker | 3,000 | 1,500 |
| Captain | 3,600 | 1,800 |
| Screamer | 4,000 | 2,000 |
| Parasite | 8,000 | 4,000 |
The full roster costs 18,800 at Platinum against 37,600 standard, a saving of 18,800. A Platinum player buys the entire class list for what a default player pays for half of it.
Weekly Gold#
Platinum players claim both weekly Mailbox rewards, not just the larger one.
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Weekly Gold Reward | 500 |
| Weekly Platinum Reward | 1,000 |
| Weekly total | 1,500 |
Adding the two daily claims, a Platinum player collects 2,550 gold a week from the Mailbox alone, which is more than two zombie classes at Platinum pricing.
